2022 Division PDW Program: Call for Submissions

As a community of scholars, the OMT division is built from the desire to develop and promote understandings of organizations and organizing. We stand at the intersection of micro and macro analysis, providing a context for mutually beneficial intellectual engagement across disciplinary and other boundaries. For the 2022 Academy of Management Annual Meeting, which will be held from August 5 – August 9, 2022, we invite proposals for PDW sessions that creatively and innovatively contribute to this mission of our Division.

The aim of PDW sessions is to explore emerging or understudied research questions, advance novel theoretical perspectives, develop innovative empirical approaches, encourage engagement with relevant but underexplored phenomena around organizations and organizing, and otherwise provide avenues for professional development. PDWs can be organized in a great variety of formats such as workshops, tutorials, debates, roundtable discussions, town hall meetings, and many more. Most importantly, PDW sessions are intended for the development of the participants; this means that participants’ active engagement in the sessions is essential (i.e. beyond what is typical for a symposium in the regular scholarly program).

This year, the challenge will be to continue to design and execute PDWs that deliver meaningful experiences and establish new connections among participants both in person and/or virtually. To that end, we encourage innovative and inclusive designs that aim to stimulate broad and active participation, both in person and virtually, and which engage as large and as broad a representation of the OMT membership as possible. We encourage submissions that address the overall AOM 2022 conference theme “Creating a Better World Together.” We also invite submissions that address the role of organizations in relation to current societal challenges, such as conflict, discrimination, health and wellbeing, the future of work and employment, economic opportunity and equality, diversity and inclusion, climate change, and more.

Acceptance of proposals for OMT PDWs will be based on (a) relevance to the interests of the Division's membership; (b) novelty and creativity; and (c) plans for creating an interactive and engaging session. We further welcome proposals that are of interest to members of other AOM divisions (e.g., ENT, STR, OB, MOC, TIM, etc.), although that is not a requirement for acceptance.  Please indicate in the submission document what divisions and interest groups may be suitable as potential co-sponsors.

The submission center opens in early December 2022. All submissions are to be submitted electronically through the AOM Submission CenterThe deadline for submissions is Tuesday January 11, 2022 at 5:00 PM ET (NY Time). Early submissions are encouraged. All named PDW participants must commit to participation in advance. We are exploring ways to improve the delivery of the PDW program and anticipate that AOM will provide additional information in the coming weeks or months. So please stay tuned, particularly for important information about the format options in the forthcoming overall AOM Call for Submissions.

We look forward to receiving your submissions this year!
