The faculty of Economics and Business Administration has a vacancy for a
professorship.
It concerns a full-time position, with a starting rank of lecturer, with a
focus on scientific research, funded by the Special Research Fund (BOF) with
effect from 1st of October 2011.
The position will be granted in the following field of study Management in
the Public and Social Profit Sector.
?Management in the Public and Social Profit Sector? is a field of study
about the management of public and social profit organizations and of the
relationship of these public and social profit organizations with other
(private) organizations. Public and social profit organizations can be not-
for-profit or for profit and are (at least partially) financed with non-
market resources. The emphasis of this field of study is on the strategic
management and the organizational management of these public and social
profit organizations.
This is in the first instance a five-year temporary appointment in a Tenure
Track system focusing primarily on research, with a teaching load limited to
no more than 60 teaching hours per semester. If the university board
positively evaluates the performance of the person involved, the position
may lead to a permanent position as senior lecturer, at which point the
teaching load may be revised.
Profile - candidates are expected to:
? Hold a PhD degree with doctoral thesis or a degree recognized as
equivalent, the PhD or equivalent should have been obtained after 1th of
October 2004, but not later than 1th of October 2009; (minimum 2 years and
maximum 7 years postdoc experience at the moment of appointment).
? Have carried out excellent research in the academic field of
strategic management and organizational management of public and social
profit organizations. This must be proven by, among other things, recent
outstanding publications in national and international peer reviewed
journals and/or books;
? Have experience in supervising research and/or coaching Ph.D.
students will be an advantage;
? having experience in international mobility, amongst others through
participation in research programs at research institutions not linked to
the university where the highest degree was obtained, is recommended;
? Possess the necessary didactic, organizational and communication
skills for teaching strategic management and organizational management at
third level;
No prior knowledge of Dutch is necessary at the time of appointment, but
candidates will be expected to acquire a working knowledge of the language
within three years. The official language at the Ghent University is Dutch.

using the specific BOF Tenure Track application forms, together with an
explanation of the main research assignment of the scientific research
proposed by the candidate during the Tenure Track position. This ?research
plan? should comprise at least three and no more than five pages in English,
together with an English summary on one page. Proofs of competency (e.g.,
copies of the applicant?s diplomas) should also be sent at this stage. The
application deadline is 23th of May 2011. Postage stamp on or before this
date is regarded as evidence of timely submission.
