    Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the Leadership Excellence and Gender in Organizations Research to Practice Conference on March 21-23, 2018 at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. The conference is organized by the Krannert School of Management, the Susan Bulkeley Butler Center for Leadership Excellence, and the Jane Brock Wilson Center at Purdue University, and the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University with other key sponsors.

The purpose of this conference is to bridge research and evidence-based practice on the creation and sustainment of work, organizational, managerial, and occupational environments to support gender equality, leader excellence and career success in organizations. This conference will bring together scholars from multiple business disciplines and stakeholders from corporations and other employing organizations with a goal of strengthening each individual paper submitted in terms of both theory development and practical implications for leaders and managers. In addition to participating in small group paper presentation and author feedback sessions, attendees will be able to attend plenary research to practice panels featuring leading scholars and senior corporate leaders from companies such as Rolls Royce and Ernst & Young who are working on gender and women's issues in business, as well as social events.

Confirmed keynote scholarly speakers are Dr. Stacy Blake-Beard of Simmons College, Dr.Jennifer Berdahl, University of British Columbia, Dr. Shelley Correll, Stanford University, and Dr. Quinetta Roberson, Villanova University.

    Call for Papers

The abstract submission deadline is November 1st, 2017 (earlier submissions are strongly encouraged, as space will be limited). Students and faculty from organizational behavior and theory, business, management, human resource management, psychology, sociology, economics, industrial relations, science, engineering, technology, strategy, education, political science, women's studies, public health, communications, and all other disciplines which share a common research interest in gender and the workplace are invited to submit an abstract for consideration HERE.

A special issue of Business Horizons is planned for papers to provide new insights addressing persistent gaps and challenges related to advancing women in business, organizations and other settings. As a way to improve the quality of submissions for the referred journal process, the editors encourage interested scholars to submit their abstract to the Leadership Excellence and Gender in Organizations Research to Practice Conference at Purdue University in March 2018 prior to the journal submission deadline. The editors will also welcome submissions for the special issue from authors who do not attend the conference. However, authors are strongly encouraged to attend the conference as an opportunity to improve their work prior to journal submission. Submissions to the special issue will be accepted between April 1 - May, 2018 at a link on the conference website.

A preconference arrival reception and panel discussion on Voice and Speaking Up on Gender in the Workplace: Challenges and Opportunities will be held during the late afternoon and early evening of March 21, 2018.  The conference will begin at 8:30 a.m. on March 22 and end no later than 1:30 p.m. on March 23rd.

More details regarding the previous interdisciplinary symposium can be found at our conference website, which will be updated with program, and housing and travel information soon. Accepted participants must register by February 1 for a nominal fee to defray administrative costs. Meals and conference materials are provided during the conference, which is subsidized. As funds permit, we will provide partial scholarships for housing or other travel costs for doctoral students and international faculty.
