The Interdisciplinary Study of Conflict and its Management: Reflections from Scholars in Different Fields

Please join us for a Conflict Management Division virtual session on the interdisciplinary study of conflict and its management on Thursday, May 18th noon-1:00pm EST (zoom link below). Conflict and conflict resolution have received quite a bit of attention across a variety of different disciplines and fields. As such, there is a wealth of theory development and empirical evidence from an array of different areas of research such as organizational behavior, communications, industrial relations, law, psychology, to name a few. Nevertheless, the insights developed in these different domains are often kept in silos and are not leveraged or integrated across fields. The use of different methodologies and the focus on different overarching research questions, among other things, have created barriers to integration of cross-disciplinary knowledge that has clear implications for theory and practice. This session brings together conflict scholars from different fields to discuss the potential for conducting interdisciplinary research and the challenges in doing so. Looking forward to engaging with you in this important discussion.
