    *** Apologies for cross-postings***

    Dear IHRM colleagues,

We are writing to invite you to participate in a Virtual (what else?) IHRM Webinar Series, organized by the Centre for Global Workforce Strategy at Simon Fraser University (Canada), the Center for International Human Resource Studies at Penn State University (USA) and ESCP Business School Europe.

With all major conferences moving to virtual settings, and with the IHRM 2020 conference cancelled entirely, most of us will be unable to meet in person this summer. Yet our work as researchers, educators, and community members must continue. In an effort to find inspiration, hear about the latest research, and inform our own work, we have decided to put together a series of webinars specifically on International HRM topics. We plan to have several such webinars over the next few months. Rather than discuss specific papers, we have asked our speakers to give keynote presentations on topics of broad interest, things that may challenge and inspire us as we think about 'what next?'.

We are pleased to announce the first webinar that will take place next week:

Looking beyond the pandemic: What's next for International HRM?

Dana Minbaeva (CBS, Denmark), Helen DeCieri (Monash U, Australia), Angelika Zimmerman (Loughborough University, UK) will discuss their ideas on the relevance of IHRM to challenges arising from the current COVID-19 pandemic.

    Description:
We have conducted a detailed analysis of key issues in HRM that were amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic. Our research found that the HRM issues emerging during the pandemic also highlighted critical future changes for employees across many types of organizations. The results of our assessment were recently published in the Journal of International Business Studies. As the world is reopening after the pandemic, the key issue on the agenda of firms and public organizations, regardless of size and industry, is how to facilitate the Restart. Reflecting on the recent experiences will help webinar participants not only to "move on", but also to use the experiences from the crisis as an opportunity to nurture new competences and effective pathways towards impactful research in the post-pandemic 'new normal'.

The webinar will be moderated by Elaine Farndale, the Director of the Center for International Human Resource Studies at Penn State.

SAVE THE DATE: We are currently planning 3 more webinars - virtual presentations of the keynotes that would have taken place at the IHRM 2020 conference. More details to follow but our tentative plan is:

    • September 14, 2020: Marion Festing (ESCP Business School, Berlin Campus, Germany)
    • October 15, 2020: Alena Ledeneva (University College London School of Slavonic and East European Studies, United Kingdom)
    • Mid-November 2020: David Collings (Dublin City University Business School, Ireland)

We look forward to seeing you at our first webinar on June 25th!
