    Introduction

Proliferation of entrepreneurship, technological and business innovations, emerging social trends and lifestyles, employment patterns and other developments in the global context involve "creative destruction" that transcends geographic and political boundaries, economic sectors and industries. This creates a need for an interdisciplinary exploration of disruptive technologies, their impacts and implications for various stakeholders widely ranging from government agencies, to major corporations and SMEs, to consumer groups and individuals.

    Objective

    • Explore innovation, imitation and creative destruction as critical factors and agents of socio-economic growth and progress in the context of emerging challenges and opportunities for business development and strategic advantage.
      • Analyze key product and technological developments and innovative business platforms trending over the past few decades.
      • Examine key product and technological developments and innovative business platforms in their industry, sectorial (across industries), regional (global regions), and country implications for business development.
      • Identify trends, impacts and implications of disruptive technologies for business and socio-economic development as well as strategic advantage on different levels.
      • Discuss major emerging innovative products, disruptive technologies, and business platforms across units of analysis specified under the heading "Recommended topics".

    Target Audience

The book is designated as a reference source, background reading in university courses, research projects, industrial, economic, social, urban, innovative, legal, and other studies, as well as policy development.
