    Junior Faculty Paper Development Workshop
    STR Division
    Saturday, August 10th, 2019
    10:15AM – 12.45PM, Boston Park Plaza, Statler
(tentative location, please check in early August)

Do you have a great paper that seems to be going nowhere? A paper that has been rejected from a journal or two, and you're not sure whether, and how, to proceed? Or a paper that has received contradictory reviews to which you're struggling to respond? Do you have a great empirical result but aren't sure if the theoretical contribution is sufficient for an A-level publication, or what other journals you should be considering? Do you feel your paper could really use some guidance from senior, more experienced faculty?

If you answered YES to any of these questions, this PDW is for you!

Now in its seventh year, the Junior Faculty Paper Development Workshop offers junior scholars a unique opportunity to receive developmental feedback on their current research projects. Specifically, it enables junior faculty who are struggling with papers in an advanced stage to engage in an in-depth discussion with experienced researchers who will read their work and offer guidance on how, and whether, to proceed.

As a junior researcher, you will be asked to submit the paper together with some supplementary material before-hand. The organizers will assign your paper to one or two senior researchers, who will go through it before the session, and then provide you with their personalized feedback during the session through a one-to-one discussion.

Organizers: Giada Di Stefano (Bocconi University), Aleksandra (Olenka) Kacperczyk (London Business School), Hong Luo (Harvard Business School), Exequiel (Zeke) Hernandez (The Wharton School)

Panelists: Mary Benner (University of Minnesota), Emily Cox Pahnke (University of Washington), JP Eggers (NYU), Gokhan Ertug (SMU), Caroline Flammer (Boston University), Andrea Fosfuri (Bocconi), Giovanni Gavetti (Dartmouth), Stine Grodal (Boston University), Ben Hallen (University of Washington), Nan Jia (USC), Samina Karim (Northeastern), Aseem Kaul (University of Minnesota), Andy King (Dartmouth), Denisa Mindruta (HEC Paris), Lamar Pierce (Washington University), Rob Seamans (NYU), Ned Smith (Northwestern), Ithai Stern (INSEAD), Yan (Anthea) Zhang (Rice), David Zhu (Arizona State), Rosemarie Ziedonis (Boston University)

Time and location: Saturday, August 10th, 2019, 10:15AM - 12:45PM, Boston Park Plaza / Statler

    Eligibility and submission requirements:

The PDW is open to untenured faculty members only (e.g., post-docs, assistant professors, lecturers). PhD students are not accepted and are discouraged from applying. Pre-registration is required.

If you are interested in participating you should send an application including:

    1. Your updated CV.
    2. A cover letter clearly stating the question(s) with which you are struggling in the paper.
    3. The most recent version of your research paper.
    4. Any reviews received – including rejection letters and / or friendly feedback.

Please submit the material in a single file (.pdf, .docx) with your last name as file name.

Submission of these materials is a pre-requisite for participating in the PDW. For the PDW you might also be expected to provide feedback to one fellow junior colleague.

Applications should be sent to str.paperdevelopmentworkshop@gmail.com. Submission of an application implies availability and commitment to participate to the PDW in case of acceptance. Deadline for applications is June 9th, 2019.  Note that submission of an application does not automatically imply acceptance into the PDW as places are limited.

Applicants will be notified by early July whether their applications have been accepted or not.
