    The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business invites applicants for the Bruce F. Failing, Sr. Professor of Personal Enterprise and Small Business Management.  The successful candidate is expected to be placed in the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management and in either the Management & Organizations or Strategy & Business Economics Areas. Appointment will be at the rank of Associate or Full Professor with tenure. The expected start date is July 1, 2020.

     

    The Bruce F. Failing Professor is expected to establish a distinguished program of research (50%) and teaching (50%) in the management of entrepreneurship and innovation. It is expected that the candidate will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in entrepreneurship and innovation. The successful candidate will be expected to advise undergraduates, as well as M.S. and Ph.D. thesis research. All candidates will be expected to maintain a highly impactful program of research and teaching in these areas. Candidates will also be expected to take a leadership role in strengthening the College’s research, instructional and co-curricular capabilities related to entrepreneurship and innovation and in fostering collaboration with faculty across areas. Candidates will be expected to engage with the rest of the University through the vibrant Entrepreneurship@Cornell ecosystem.

     

    Desirable candidates should be at the interface of entrepreneurship and innovation and various fields, including but not limited to sociology, economics, strategy, management and organizations, and organizational behavior.

     

    The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business (established on July 1, 2016) combines three Schools. The Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management (Johnson), the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management (Dyson), and the School of Hotel Administration (Hotel School). The Management & Organizations Area and Strategy & Business Economics Area both include faculty from each of these three Schools. Dyson houses a top-ranked undergraduate business program as well as graduate programs that award Ph.D., M.S. and M.P.S. degrees. Faculty members in the Dyson School frequently collaborate with colleagues in Computer and Information Sciences, Economics, Engineering, Natural Resources, the New York City Tech campus, and other units on campus.
