    The purpose of this PDW is to enhance participants' understanding of the effective utilization of formal models for both theoretical and empirical management research. The PDW aims to promote the effective use and consumption of formal modeling to a larger audience, reach a consensus on the acceptable practices of formal modeling in the management field, facilitate a conversation between experts and learners, and create a community of learning for those interested in formal modeling. Invited participants are scholars who have extensive experience in formal modeling as producers, consumers or reviewers. The PDW will address the following topics: (1) Advantages and disadvantages of using formal models in strategy research. (2) How to develop formal models? (3)How to consume formal models? (4) How to leverage formal models for empirical research? (5) Editor's view on the use of formal models.

    Format of PDW:

    The PDW will consist of two parts: a 90-minute panel session and a 90-minute roundtable session. 

    To participate in PDW: 

    The panel session is open for everyone; the roundtable session requires a pre-registration. Because of the limited space registration is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Walk-ins are welcomed, only if space is available. To register online, please visit https://secure.aom.org/PDWReg.
