  • 1.  Call for nominations for the Strategy, Entrepreneurship & Innovation (SEI) Doctoral Consortium (7-8 Nov 2020, U. of Bologna)

    Dear Colleague,

We invite nominations from faculty at business schools in Europe for their students to participate in the SEI doctoral consortium. The consortium seeks to bring together a select group of doctoral students doing research in the areas of strategy, entrepreneurship and/or innovation.

The SEI Consortium is an initiative of faculty from Europe's leading business schools, including Bocconi University, Copenhagen Business School, ETH Zurich, HEC Paris, Imperial College London, and London Business School, to help advance the research frontier and stimulate the academic labor market. To this end, it supports an annual faculty workshop and a doctoral consortium. For these events, it brings together faculty from a broad range of European institutions, including those mentioned above, as well as from Católica Lisbon, EPFL, IE, IESE, KU Leuven, SKEMA, TUM, University of Bath, University of Bologna, and many others.

The SEI Doctoral Consortium provides doctoral students at universities in Europe with a unique opportunity to present their dissertation-stage research to, and receive developmental feedback from leading strategy, innovation and entrepreneurship scholars, including the editors of many of the top journals in the field. Ample opportunities for informal mentoring and networking will be provided outside the formal student presentations, including coffee breaks, lunches and dinners.

This year, the SEI Doctoral Consortium will be held at the Department of Management of the University of Bologna (UNIBO) and will start on Saturday morning, November 7, and will finish Sunday, November 8, in the early afternoon. For doctoral students selected to attend and their supervisor, UNIBO will provide all meals and hotel accommodations for two nights; however, no refunds on travel costs are available. Faculty working in the area of strategy, entrepreneurship and innovation are welcome to attend the consortium, but should approach the organizers beforehand and are required to make and pay for their travel and hotel arrangements. If the current Coronavirus crisis is not fully resolved, the SEI Doctoral Consortium will go online.

Nominations should be made by the faculty rather than the student. Since the consortium is designed to help students develop their research, we prefer nominees whose research is beyond the thesis proposal stage. All nominees will be evaluated by a selection committee. Priority will be given to students who have not presented at a previous SEI consortium and to students whose thesis advisor commits to participate in the event.

To nominate a student, please provide a letter of support, which includes:

    • Student name
    • The stage he/she has reached in the doctoral program
    • An indication whether a nominated student has presented previously at the SEI Consortium
    • An indication whether the lead supervisor will commit to participate in the event

With your letter of support, please add:

    • An up-to-date CV of the nominee
    • The student's extended abstract (max 2000 words)

All nominations should be sent no later than August 10, 2020, by e-mail to: sei2020@unibo.it

We kindly ask you to send all documents in Adobe Acrobat (pdf) format. Please note that nominees will not be given feedback on their abstract.
