We invite you to participate in
"Behind the Scenes of Highly Cited Organizational Ethnographies"

    PDW #20107

    Monday, Aug 10 2020, 2:00PM - 4:00PM EDT (18:00 UTC)
Format: Real-Time: Presenters and audience on live video w/ audience Q&A/chat.

Moderators: Leanne Hedberg, Asma Zafar, Celeste Diaz Ferraro
Presenters: Kimberly Elsbach (UC Davis), Bryant Hudson (IÉSEG), Katherine Kellogg (MIT), Davide Nicolini (Warwick), Juliane Reinecke (King's College London), Michael Smets (Oxford)

We invite you to the third iteration of the highly popular 'Behind the Scenes' series, which brings together several top ethnographers in organizational studies to share detailed experiences at various stages of the ethnographic process. This PDW is right for you if you're interested in immersive research approaches, especially in organizational settings. You will get to hear the back-story on what went into producing some of our field's most loved and cited organizational ethnographies. We are sure this PDW will inspire you and offer a much-needed boost of motivation and support for your own ethnographic or immersive work.

This PDW is structured to enable participant interaction with these scholars in three different segments and formats. First, each scholar will share a brief narrative detailing a particular experience from their fieldwork. Next, scholars will engage in a panel discussion with participant Q&A. Lastly, participants will join small-group roundtable breakouts in which a scholar facilitates discussion on a specific stage of the ethnographic process (from field site access through journal reviews).

Space in this PDW is limited and has always filled quickly; preregistration is required and participation is on a first-come, first-served basis. Participation in the individual presentations/panel Q&A sessions is capped at 250; participation in the small roundtable sessions is capped at 36 (we will also compile a wait-list for those interested).

When you register for this PDW through AOM, please select PDW #20107. In the meantime, we are holding space for participants and you will need to complete an online form (https://forms.gle/8w753QPwN2RtdrfF6) to help us match you with your preferred roundtable topics & facilitators. Organizers will make every attempt to match you with your top choices, but roundtable assignments are not guaranteed. The narratives and panel Q&A will also be recorded for later viewing by those in alternate time zones; if you are unable to attend live, please complete the Google form to be contacted with a link at a later date.
