  • 1.  HCM Highlights for Saturday: AOM Day 2

    Posted 08-07-2020 17:56

    Goooooood Morning!

Did you wake up recovering from last night's reception?  Funny, neither did we!  See, there are advantages to being virtual!  Today is probably another rainy day in Vancouver, but since we're not there (most of us anyway), who cares? Cozy on up for another day of engaging HCM division programming from the comfort of your own home!

Please join us for these exciting sessions Saturday, 8/8. All times are Eastern Daylight Time (i.e., New York).

9:00am- 10:00am: Overcoming Dichotomies in HCM: Broadening Research on Coordination.

    • This PDW will explore potential synergies between macro- and micro-level research on coordination in health care and will critically examine the tensions between both perspectives and discuss opportunities for future research.

10:15am- 11:15am: How to Use and Publish with Theory in Health Care Research.

    • This PDW invites participants to engage in discussion around three panels: 1) Using and Publishing with Theory in Health Management and Policy Journals, 2) Using and Publishing with Theory in Clinical and Health Services Research Journals, and 3) Using and Publishing with Theory in Management journals.

12:00pm-1:00pm: HCM Research Incubator: Research in the Rough.

    • This PDW provides attendees constructive feedback on health care management related research projects. The session required pre-registrations and is only open to those who previously applied and were admitted.

1:15pm-2:15pm: HCM Teaching Incubator: Becoming More Effective Instructors.

    • This PDW will provide a forum and foster a community in which health care management scholars can discuss pertinent issues about teaching, from common questions and challenges that educators confront to helpful practices, tips, and ideas to becoming more effective instructors.

There's plenty here to keep you busy, so stay out of trouble! (Or not. You're at home. It's Saturday.)

    Tim Vogus (Division Chair)
    Sara Singer (Division Chair-Elect)
    Brian Hilligoss (Program Chair)
    Ria Hearld (PDW Chair)
    Tia Gilmartin (Past Division Chair)

Some Suggestions for using the new online program and virtual meeting platform:

    • The AOM Quick Start Guide is a handy tool for getting started. It has instructions not only for logging in, creating a profile, and updating your password, but also for engaging others in conversations via the virtual platform, giving feedback to session presenters, and creating "Birds of a Feather" meeting rooms to interact with other conference attendees.
    • You can view the entire AOM 2020 Program
    • Rather than "View Full Agenda" (i.e., all sessions across all divisions), we recommend using the pull-down search menu on the top right to filter your search. If you select HCM under "Sponsors" in that search pull-down list, you'll see all our sessions. We hope you will join for as many of them as possible!
    • See the AOM Quick Start Guide for instructions on adding sessions to your "Agenda."
    • For live sessions, there will be a countdown to the start time of the live session. Once the countdown has completed, there will be a link to take you to join the session. For asynchronous sessions, there will be a recording of the session that you can view any time you would like.
