    (With apologies for cross-posting)

Hi, Folks! We’re getting ready here for our AOM Annual Meeting in Copenhagen in July.

Our world continues to remain chaotic, with increasing infringements on minority rights and DEI, growing geopolitical tensions, continuing violent conflict, the climate crisis, cost of living issues, and a general sense that progress is being reversed. Many of us feel saturated with information noise from the media and tune out, or feel hopeless and powerless. We seek to cut through the noise by bringing forward specific matters that are relevant to the academic community, and dispel the doom and gloom through stories of progress, positivity and hope.

Our CMS Newsletter is taking two separate paths, beginning now. First, we’re launching a new “The Month That Was” monthly mini-newsletter, in which anyone can contribute with articles about immediate issues of concern related to organizations and organizing, DEI , marginalized communities, human rights, and a critical look at business-society interactions. This is due on the 5th of every month beginning in June (and then on the 5th of July, August, and so on…) and will be published shortly afterwards on LinkedIn and the CMS AOM website as a mini-newsletter.

Second, our regular CMS June Newsletter is on its way, and we’re looking for new content. Given the current climate, we are interested in hearing how the academic community is involved in activism, whether academic activism (research, teaching, involvement with students, etc.), activism within the community, or elsewhere. We are looking to hear from anyone who is actively involved in resisting oppression, seeking to uplift marginalized communities or promote diversity, equity and inclusion in the face of anti-DEI attacks. We don’t want to spread negativity, rather we want to provide hope and courage.

We have a regular feature introducing a PhD student or early career faculty member in CMS or a related field to future mentors or colleagues. If you are a student or early career faculty in CMS or a related field, or know someone, please reach out to us.

Please contact Keshav Krishnamurty, our newsletter editor, at keshav.krishnamurty@utoronto.ca or keshav.krishnamurty@iiml.org if you have any ideas for “The Month That Was” or a regular newsletter article. We look forward to hearing from you!
