    The Information Systems (ISYS) department at the Sam M. Walton College of Business, University of Arkansas seeks applicants for the position of Department Chair and full professor, starting from July 1 or Fall, 2023.  The administrative component of the role will include the maintenance of a conducive research environment and teaching culture, in addition to stewarding the departmental resources. The Department Chair is also responsible for leading the faculty in managing curriculum related to information systems across undergraduate, masters, and doctoral programs. The Department Chair oversees the scheduling of classes, with support from the Assistant Department Chair. The Chair also serves on the College's Executive Committee and supports the Dean and Senior Associate Dean in evaluating and supporting college initiatives. Strong candidates will show evidence of leadership, administration, and collaboration with faculty of varying rank. The successful candidate is also expected to contribute to enhancing the reputation and work environment of the Walton College. The position is a 50% administrative position. The teaching load is typically one course per year. Department chairs in the Walton College serve for renewable 5-year terms. This opportunity is associated with an endowed, and a nationally competitive compensation package.

    Required Qualifications:

      *   Ph.D. in information systems or a closely related field
      *   A research and teaching record suitable for tenure at the full professor level
      *   Prior experience as department chair (or equivalent experience) that shows an ability to perform all administrative, budgetary, curricular and engagement activities of the department
      *   Excellent written and verbal communication skills



    Preferred Qualifications:

      *   An active research program with the potential to continue to publish in leading peer-reviewed journals (with documentation of research pipeline)
      *   Prior experience of teaching at the graduate level (doctoral seminars or master's/MBA courses in IS)
      *   A proven record of fund raising, research grants or gifts in kind
      *   Evidence of major innovation initiatives in programs, outreach and/or administration
      *   Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and innovation
      *   Demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity
      *   Demonstrated collegiality and teamwork
      *   Desire to engage and collaborate with the executive leadership of the college


    The Information Systems Department: The ISYS department at the Sam M. Walton College of Business has an active research-oriented Ph.D. program, a Master of Information Systems, a Professional Master of Information Systems, a Masters in Applied Business Analytics, and a BSBA major in Information Systems. In Fall 2022, the department is expected to have twelve tenured or tenure-track faculty, with four endowed faculty positions, in addition to seven clinical faculty members, five full-time instructors, and several part-time instructors.
    The ISYS department is a leader in cutting-edge research.  While the department has a tradition and global reputation in behavioral research, faculty research interests are diverse and span across behavioral (management, adoption, use, and impacts of technology at individual, organizational, or societal levels) and economics-oriented (financial impacts of IT, panel data) aspects of IT. The department has been ranked in the top 5 globally in terms of publications in top IS journals (like MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of MIS and the Journal of AIS) for several years. Additionally, the departmental faculty is one of the only in the world to include a AIS LEO award winner, a Decision Sciences Institute Lifetime Distinguished Educator, an IEEE Fellow, and three AIS Fellows, and faculty have received numerous other accolades from major professional societies.
    The ISYS department also boasts very strong undergraduate, masters, and PhD program curricula, and strong ties to organizations in a variety of industries both within Arkansas and all across the country. The department has a world class Enterprise Systems Program that gives our students experience with industrial-strength technology platforms, thanks to more than $200 Million in gifts of hardware, software, data, training, and financial support from IBM, Microsoft, SAP, Teradata, Tyson Foods, Wal-Mart, and others. The department is also home to the Blockchain Center of Excellence, launched in 2018 by the Governor of the State of Arkansas.  The BCoE's mission is to make the Sam M. Walton College of Business an academic leader in education and research on blockchain-enabled technologies for digital ecosystems.     The Sam M. Walton College of Business: The Sam M. Walton College of Business has more than 6,000 students. The Walton College has an innovative cross-functional business core program that focuses on business processes, and several new cross-disciplinary minors and concentrations.
