    SI highlights:
✨  With the advent of the fourth industrial revolution, firms are increasingly facing disruptions along multiple dimensions: technological, market, environmental, and institutional
✨ Such disruptions increase the level of uncertainty that firms perceive, bringing about both challenges and opportunities
✨ Seven research articles and one introductory essay (commentary) address different aspects of R&D management under disruption and uncertainty
✨ The SI develops a conceptual framework describing how firms might address different types of disruption and uncertainty through an Open Innovation System approach.

    Future research avenues:
🔎 Investigating the impact of various types (e.g., technological, market, environmental, and institutional) of disruption and uncertainty on R&D Management
🔎 Adopting an Open Innovation System approach to address disruption and uncertainty
🔎 Exploring the "Inside-Out Flow", "Outside-In Flow", and "Inside-In Flow" of knowledge and resources in Open Innovation Systems.
