  • 1.  Seeking Discussants for AOM 2025 Symposium on Gender at Work

    Posted 12-06-2024 12:34

    Dear Colleagues,

I hope this email finds you well! A group of doctoral students from MDSA and I are organizing a presenter symposium for the 2025 Academy of Management Annual Meeting in Copenhagen, focused on gender at work and its various implications for organizational dynamics, leadership, and workplace outcomes.

We are seeking faculty discussants to join us in facilitating discussions during the symposium. The discussant role will involve synthesizing the presented papers, offering insights that tie together the themes, and engaging with the audience to move the discussion forward.

The symposium includes the following papers, and we are currently soliciting one more paper to round out the symposium (TBD):

    • Tyler Fezzey (The University of Alabama) & William Obernauer (University of Maine): Examining the gender pay gap across different occupational segmentations and leadership levels (e.g., executive vs. non-executive).

    • Tiffany Owens, Horatio Traylor, Dave Sullivan, Enrica Ruggs, Derek Avery,  (University of Houston): Investigating the effects of gendered behaviors on team performance.
    • Ashley Flowers & Cookie Day, University of South Carolina: Exploring the moderating effect of inclusion climate on TMT gender diversity and its implications for organizational outcomes.

We aim to foster a rich and thought-provoking dialogue around these topics, and we believe the expertise of faculty who work on related issues will be invaluable to the success of this session.

If you are interested in serving as a discussant and have not yet fulfilled your Rule of Three for AOM 2025 submissions, we would be delighted to include you in our symposium. This is a great opportunity to engage with emerging scholars, contribute to advancing research on gender at work, and share your valuable insights with the broader academic community.

If this opportunity resonates with you or you know of a colleague who might be a great fit, please let us know by December 15th, 2024. Feel free to reach out with any questions or for additional details. Further – if you or a doctoral student have an ongoing paper that fits the symposium theme that you would be interested in adding, please let me know(!), as we are still looking to add at least one more paper presentation.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to collaborate with and support the next generation of scholars. We greatly appreciate your expertise and look forward to hearing from you!
