The editors of Academy of Management Learning & Education (AMLE) invite applications for a Paper Development & Reviewing Workshop to be held at Vanderbilt University. The workshop will be held on March 5, 2018. The purpose of this workshop is to develop working manuscripts with the aim of later submission for review at AMLE.

This developmental workshop offers the opportunity for PhD students, postdocs, and faculty members to develop papers for publication and to develop their reviewing skills. Consistent with the mission of AMLE, submissions on all management learning and management education topics, using all types of theory, at all levels of analysis, and using all empirical methods are invited for submission to the workshop. Submissions approved for inclusion in the workshop will be the papers judged to make potentially significant and novel theoretical and empirical contributions to the field. Workshop participants will be placed with facilitators whose work and areas of expertise are closely aligned. The review workshop will focus on what makes a good, developmental review.

The workshop will consist of roundtable presentations by the author(s) followed by discussions of the author's work led by at least one of the members of the AMLE editorial team. The intent is for authors to receive actionable feedback that can then be incorporated into their papers.

The reviewing workshop will take place as a roundtable discussion where participants can interact with the Editor and the Associate Editors.

The workshop is open to all scholars working on all topics that are relevant to management learning and education. As space is limited, preference will be given first to those whose papers are being discussed in the roundtables. Additional spots will be allocated on the basis of first come, first served.

Those who wish to have their paper reviewed and discussed should submit an extended abstract (between 5 and 10 pages of text) of their papers or paper ideas by February 15, 2018.  

The abstract should provide a synopsis of the research question, its relevance and significance, a statement relating to the limited ability of extant concepts and/or theory to provide a coherent response to that question, the empirical approach, and the implications of the findings for down-the-road theorizing.

Full working papers are due before February 27, 2018.
