    The Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) seeks one candidate for a 9-month, full time, tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor. Appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor rank is dependent on qualifications relative to university and school standards. The MHA program is housed in the School of Health and Applied Human Sciences (SHAHS) within the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS). The MHA curriculum is a 100% online accelerated program (OAP) that prepares graduates for administrative roles in healthcare settings. Successful candidates will be expected to relocate to Southeastern North Carolina or the Wilmington area and maintain a campus presence as part of the SHAHS faculty.

    Upon initial appointment, teaching responsibilities will be assigned in the MHA program. In addition, these faculty members will be active in research and scholarship in the Healthcare Administration field as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and grant activity. Additional faculty expectations include mentoring students, performing professional and community service and outreach, and contributing to ongoing program evaluation and improvement.

    Candidates interested in the position at the rank of tenure-track Assistant Professor should have potential for innovation and leadership in teaching, research/scholarship, and service. To be considered at the rank of tenure-track or tenured Associate Professor or Full Professor, candidates are expected to have an established record of teaching, scholarship/research, and service. Candidates are required to be experienced and highly competent in teaching online courses.

    Appointments begin in August 2021.

    Applicants must have the following qualifications:

    • Earned doctoral degree in Healthcare Administration/Management, or Business Administration/Management (with a master's degree and/or at least 18 hours of graduate coursework closely related to Healthcare Administration/Management), Health Services Management, or a related field from a regionally accredited program. Applicants who are ABD for the terminal degree may be considered depending on expected completion date.
    • Demonstrated potential to develop a successful research program and grant activity in Healthcare Administration or related field.
    • Evidence of successful online teaching experience.

    Preference will be given to candidates who have the following qualifications:

    • Active membership in professional societies (i.e., AUPHA, ACHE).
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with constituents across the college and university.
    • Experience with CAHME accreditation standards and competency-based education.
    • Have experience working in a healthcare organization resulting in direct industry specific
    administrative knowledge.
    • Commitment to a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
    • Successful research program and grant activity with a clear research trajectory.
    • Experience in academic program development and administration.

    The Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) will prepare early- to mid-level careerists, by providing transformative learning experiences and foundational knowledge and skills, to serve as effective managers and administrators within a wide range of healthcare organizations throughout Southeastern NC and beyond. The MHA program is a 48 credit-hour graduate degree program consisting of a curriculum aligned with the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME) standards and competencies. The curriculum is offered through UNCW's Online Accelerated Program (or the OAP model).

    Prior to the official appointment to the university, the candidate(s) selected for hire must be able to demonstrate eligibility to teach assigned courses by successfully meeting the credentialing requirements based on official transcripts and other documentation as required.
