The HCM Division and its Teaching Committee invite you to join us for this year's virtual version of the HCM Teaching Incubator: Becoming More Effective Instructors (session 386)!

WHEN: Taking place on Saturday, July 31st, from 1:30 to 3:00 PM (EDT).

WHAT: This year's Teaching Incubator PDW has been adapted to fit the AOM Annual Meeting's virtual format, which will include two separate rounds of panel discussions.  In each round, we will have virtual "discussion tables" focusing on a specific theme that participants can connect with in separate breakout rooms, with Teaching Mentors providing expert guidance and feedback on issues relating to that theme.  The HCM Teaching Incubator PDW seeks to provide a forum and foster a community in which healthcare management scholars can discuss pertinent issues about teaching, from common questions and challenges that educators confront to helpful practices, tips, and ideas to becoming more effective instructors.  As a result, the feel of the Teaching Incubator is an active conversation between participants and Teaching Mentors, driven by the topic-related questions, experiences, and considerations that participants share.  For those who would value feedback, advice, or help with teaching – whether you're a first-time instructor or a seasoned teacher wrestling with specific questions or ideas – this PDW will be of particular interest, offering helpful conversations on issues confronted in a range of educational settings by healthcare management educators.

DETAILS: This year's selected topics and Teaching Mentors include:

      Colleagues,
As a quick reminder, we're excited to host the HCM Teaching Incubator PDW (Session 386) tomorrow, Saturday, July 31st, from 1:30 to 3:00 PM (EDT).  Our time together will involve helpful conversations on issues confronted across a range of educational settings by healthcare management educators, and anyone interested in discussing teaching - whether that's feedback, advice, or help with teaching – is encouraged to participate!

In response to several questions we've received, we wanted to clarify that participants will be able to access the session one minute before it's scheduled to begin.  On the site for the Teaching Incubator PDW in the virtual agenda (Session 386), ahead of the Teaching Incubator session's time, you will find a message that currently states: "This live meeting hasn't started yet" (on the right hand side of the session's online program page).  Right before the Teaching Incubator starts, that message will change to a "Join Live Meeting" button that you'll click to access the Teaching Incubator Zoom session.

If you have any questions or considerations, please don't hesitate to contact Patrick Shay at pshay@trinity.edu, and please share this with anyone who may be interested.

      See you tomorrow afternoon!
