    Hello Friends!

Welcome to the 80th Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management!  Our theme is year is 20/20: Broadening our Sight, challenging us to see things more clearly and to broaden the way we see management and organizations in our own profession.  The weather in Vancouver today is chilly and rainy, with a high of 69F/21C, but as this is a virtual experience, you do not need to grab your raincoat.  We are excited to see you all virtually to catch up, collaborate, and network!

Please join us for these exciting Health Care Management sessions Friday, 8/7. All times are Eastern Daylight Time (i.e., New York).

    11:00am-11:45am: HCM Division Business Meeting.

    • Come see presentations of the HCM awards, hear reports on the state of the Division, and learn about the HCM 2020 program. Everyone is welcome!

12:00pm-1:00pm: HCM Emerging Scholars Consortium, Navigating the Health Care Job Market.

    • This session will cover strategies for developing your scholarly profile, navigating post-doctoral fellowships, what to do when you get an offer, navigating the European job market, building research collaborations and mentorship, and ongoing considerations for a successful career. Everything you need to know about the job market, particularly during uncertain times

1:30pm-2:30pm: HCM Emerging Scholars Consortium, Integration of Research and Teaching in HCM.

    • This session discusses how to integrate research into classroom to share practical knowledge with healthcare management students. The integration of research and teaching components benefit the scholar's ability to engage with students, link theory to practice, improve student outcomes, and, ultimately, influence practice.

2:30pm-3:30pm: HCM Emerging Scholars Consortium, Hot Topics in Research.

    • This session invites participants to engage in discussion of four of the "hot topics" in health care management research and practice: Seven "hot" topical areas (described in detail below) will be discussed at the PDW including: 1) the changing nature of work; 2) health care technology/digitalization; 3) industry consolidation and integration/population health; and 4) quality improvement. This session is fan favorite!

Some Suggestions for using the new online program and virtual meeting platform:

    • The AOM Quick Start Guide is a handy tool for getting started. It has instructions not only for logging in, creating a profile, and updating your password, but also for engaging others in conversations via the virtual platform, giving feedback to session presenters, and creating "Birds of a Feather" meeting rooms to interact with other conference attendees.
    • You can view the entire AOM 2020 Program
    • Rather than "View Full Agenda" (i.e., all sessions across all divisions), we recommend using the pull-down search menu on the top right to filter your search. If you select HCM under "Sponsors" in that search pull-down list, you'll see all our sessions. We hope you will join for as many of them as possible!
    • See the AOM Quick Start Guide for instructions on adding sessions to your "Agenda."
    • For live sessions, there will be a countdown to the start time of the live session. Once the countdown has completed, there will be a link to take you to join the session. For asynchronous sessions, there will be a recording of the session that you can view any time you would like.
