The Health Care Management Division's Teaching Committee is pleased to seek nominations for the 2020 Excellence in Teaching Award, which recognizes innovative and outstanding teaching that takes place in our classrooms and provides the opportunity to encourage, recognize, and reward the work of excellent, dedicated, and inspiring teachers.  Nominations are sought from HCM members, with additional details shared below.

    *Eligibility*
All members of a University-level academic staff, tenured or on full time contract, are eligible.  Recipients must have been employed in a teaching position for at least three years within higher education.  Award winners will not be eligible for re-nomination for 3 years.  Self-nominations are acceptable.  Individuals who have been previously nominated in the past two years but were not selected to receive the award are automatically included in consideration as nominees for the current year's recognition.

Applicants will be assessed on the basis of their success in developing effective teaching methods, courses, and/or teaching materials that generate student learning, critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and/or research.  Nominees must exhibit: a commitment to teaching health care management; stimulate active, continuous learning; inspire excellence in students' achievements; promote independent learning; and, create an environment for the development of critical and open thought.

    *Selection*
Selection will be made by the members of the HCM Teaching Award Selection Committee, an ad hoc committee that is assembled each year within the Health Care Management Division's Teaching Committee.  The nominator/nominee must compile all documentation in support of the nomination.  Materials will not be returned to the applicant.  Awardees will be notified in advance.  The Award (which includes peer recognition, a plaque, and a $250 honorary educational grant) will be presented at the Academy of Management Annual Meeting.

Nominators should develop a letter of nomination as well as obtain the candidate's CV and two additional letters of support, with at least one of those letters being from a current or former student.  Additional supporting documents may be requested for final candidates as needed by the HCM Teaching Award Selection Committee.

Please send all nominations or any questions you have to Patrick Shay, Chair of the HCM Teaching Award Selection Committee: pshay@trinity.edu.  More details can be found here: https://connect.aom.org/hcm/awards/teaching
