A former student of mine, Leslie Haas, is helping lead a study at Stanford Medicine to learn more about COVID-19 and its spread.

Here's her request, please help if you can.

"I am reaching out to solicit any help you may provide with creating public awareness about a critical initiative that Stanford is leading.  Because there are a lack of available COVID-19 tests, and to exploit the 10 day delay between symptom onset and hospitalization, Stanford Medicine has launched a National Daily Health Survey, which will serve as an early warning system for COVID-19.  This will comprise of a daily assessment, for healthy and sick individuals, to predict and monitor local COVID-19 outbreaks.  Data will be used to inform and prepare local and national responses, such as allocating healthcare resources and instituting or lifting stay-at-home restrictions. The assessment can be found here: https://med.stanford.edu/covid19/covid-counter.html

We have just launched today and are now actively seeking to spread the word.  My ask for you, if you are willing, would be to help us in any of the following ways:

    • Please do take the survey daily! Your inputs will be helpful as we build out our database.
    • If you could help spread the word across your team, or via your personal or professional network, we would love to elicit daily engagement from you and others.
    • If there are additional ways you may help us to disseminate this information, whether through social media, corporate partnerships, or speaking opportunities, we would welcome any ideas to help us increase awareness and engagement; we have confirmed partnerships thus far with AWS, T-mobile and a few others."
