CALL FOR PAPERS
Academic Conference on Medical Travel and Cross Border Healthcare Medical Travel: Strengthening the Science Madrid, Spain, 24-25 September 2020
DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: 15 April 2020
This two-day conference aims to bring together scholars from academic and research institutions from around the world to critically examine and discuss macro and micro-level issues of medical travel, with a particular focus on:
- Geo-political events and risks affecting medical travel
- Clinical outcomes and patient experience for medical travel providers
- Effectiveness of government policy and strategy for facilitating medical travel
- Service quality and safety for medical travellers
- Health system investments locally and globally
- Social and ethical considerations related to medical travel
The goals of this program extend beyond presentations and include facilitating new scholarly collaborations. The conference conveners hope to encourage the cultivation of relationships that can help scholars pursue international comparisons on the many topics important to the medical travel sector. To this end, a portion of the meeting time will focus on facilitating professional networking and incubation of new research ideas.
The Academic Conference (24-25 September 2020) will overlap with the IMTJ Medical Travel Summit (23-24 September 2020), which brings together governmental and industry representatives from around the world who are involved in the development of medical tourism. This joint scheduling will provide a unique opportunity for conference participants to attend parts of the IMTJ Medical Travel Summit and actively foster and engage in much-needed cross-sectoral knowledge exchange and dialogue.
How to submit
To submit a paper proposal, please send an email with a 250-word abstract and a 100-word bio via the on-line abstract submission form by April 15, 2020. Scholars and researchers in any stage of their career are encouraged to share their research. Successful applicants will be contacted by May 1, 2020, and will be expected to register for the conference by August 1, 2020, to secure their place in the September 2020 conference programme.
