    A postdoctoral position is available in the ACCELERATE Research Lab in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, in the College of Medicine, at the Ohio State University, to train on the Black Impact Project, a community-based participatory research study with the goal to improve the cardiovascular health of Black Men in Central Ohio.     Job Description: Postdoctoral scholar to pursue specialized research training and experience under the guidance of a scientific mentor in a research laboratory within the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism; collaborates, designs and conducts community-based, clinical trial and health equity research on diabetes and cardiovascular disease and other endocrinology diseases under the guidance of a faculty mentor; participates in research activities; performs analysis of data and prepares results of research for publication; actively participates in the recruitment and interview of prospective study participants; plans and designs research to test hypotheses; creates materials and performs testing of human subjects; assists PI with grant proposals to obtain outside funding from state and federal agencies; develops, adopts and implements new research methods.

    Minimum Education Required
    Doctorate (Academic) or equivalent combination of education and experience

    Required Qualifications
    MD or Ph.D in Public Health, Epidemiology, Nutrition, Physiology or related program required; strong computer skills preferred; Requires successful completion of a background check. Qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
    Responsibilities:
    15%: Participates in bi-weekly research team meetings to coordinate ongoing and new research projects; participates in training and oversight of students; additional duties may be assigned based on needs of ongoing and new research projects
    15%: Seeks opportunities for external funding and supports development of research proposals for submission; participates as appropriate in new research grant submissions; develop projects, collects data, and conducts quantitative and qualitative analysis in new research projects designed as pilot work for new grant submissions.
    70%: Collaborates with Principal Investigators (PIs) on community-based, clinical trial and health equity research investigating topics related to general internal medicine, cardiovascular health, epidemiology, diabetes and life's essential 8; prepares oral presentations for national and international scientific conferences, workshops, and seminars; writes and submits manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
