Presenter Symposium on Integrating Wearable Technology into HRM Research and Practice
86th Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management (AOM 2026)
The rapid expansion of technology has enabled the development of compact, body-worn sensors and electronic devices with advanced computing capability. Yet, the integration of wearable methodologies into Human Resource Management (HRM) scholarship remains in its early stages. Integrating perspectives from human resources and organizational neuroscience, this symposium aims to deepen our understanding of how objective biometric data can complement traditional self-report measures or empirically test frameworks, such as the Ability-Motivation-Opportunity (AMO) model.
We are seeking one to two additional papers that align with the symposium's focus. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
-
Employee experiences, perceptions, and reactions to workplace wearables and biometric monitoring
-
The use of wearable data in HR decisions related to well-being, performance management, safety, or development
-
Methodological innovations using wearable or physiological data in HR and organizational research
