Toward a Neurocognitive Foundation of Entrepreneurial Behaviour

Entrepreneurship research is beginning to engage more directly with underlying cognitive and neural mechanisms.

Cognitive performance, cognitive regulation (e.g., attention and control), and emotional processes appear increasingly relevant for understanding how entrepreneurial behaviour is enacted under uncertainty.

A new track at the European Conference on Innovation and Entrepreneurship (European Conference on Innovation and Entrepreneurship)-"Brain-Driven Entrepreneurship: Cognitive Performance, Learning Design, and the Future of Entrepreneurial Education"-reflects this growing intersection.

The track explores how neurocognitive mechanisms-particularly those related to attention, regulation, and decision-making-inform entrepreneurial action, and how these processes may be shaped through targeted learning interventions.

This may signal a gradual integration of neuroscience perspectives into entrepreneurship research in a more systematic and applied manner.

Interested to hear thoughts from colleagues working across these domains.
