    The University of Kansas School of Business invites applicants for the following senior level, tenured faculty position:

     

    Overview

    The Management Area of the School of Business at the University of Kansas is searching for an advanced Associate or Full Professor in Human Resources or Organizational Behavior. Qualified candidates may also be considered for a named professorship. The ideal candidate for this opportunity would have an active research interest in Human Resources; however, candidates whose research focuses on Organizational Behavior or the intersection of these two research domains will be considered.

    Candidates with an interest in or a demonstrated ability to mentor doctoral students are encouraged to apply.     This is a full-time, tenured position beginning either August 2020 or August 2021.  Our search will continue until the position is filled.

    The Management Area comprises Human Resource Management, Organizational Behavior, Behavioral Ethics, Strategy, International Business, and Entrepreneurship. Faculty include Vince Barker, Melissa Birch, Clint Chadwick, Niki den Nieuwenboer, Jill Ellingson, Jim Guthrie, Minyoung Kim, Jun-Ho Lee, Douglas May, Scott Mitchell, Catherine Schwoerer, and Jane Zhao.

    Faculty are research active publishing in top-tier management journals such as Journal of Applied Psychology, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management, Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Perspectives, Organization Science, Personnel Psychology, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, and Journal of International Business Studies. The Management Area supports doctoral programs in human resource management, organizational behavior, and strategy. The Area comes together for a weekly professional development workshop series designed to engage faculty and doctorate students by supporting a positive research climate.

    The University of Kansas is the flagship state-sponsored university of the State of Kansas, with world-class competencies in a wide variety of fields. The KU School of Business has been educating students and creating business leaders since 1924. In May 2016, the school moved into the $70.5 million, 166,500-square-foot Capitol Federal Hall.     Duties

    40%        Conduct and publish research on Human Resources/Organizational Behavior in leading academic journals. 

    40%       Teach a combination of required and elective courses in Human Resources/Organizational Behavior at the undergraduate, MBA and doctoral levels.

    20%        Engage in school, university, and professional service activities as needed.

     

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    For appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor:

    1. A Ph.D. in Human Resources, Organizational Behavior or a closely related field.
    2. Currently holds the position of Associate or Full Professor at a research-oriented university of a similar or higher research profile as the University of Kansas and has demonstrated excellent scholarship as shown through top-tier publications.
    3. Record of productive teaching excellence in Human Resources or Organizational Behavior.

     

    Appointment at a particular level will be based on an applicant's scholarly and teaching record.

    Evaluation of these requirements will be made through application materials.

    APPOINTMENT: Full year appointments can begin as early as August 18, 2020.

    ADVERTISED SALARY RANGE: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
