    Virtual Careers in the Rough: Call for Manuscripts


    The Careers Division is proud to offer a great opportunity to discuss your careers-related research with leading careers scholars who will mentor you regarding your topic choice, theoretical development, methodology, data analysis, and discuss the implications of your careers research.


    Similar to the popular Careers in the Rough workshop at the annual meeting, this virtual workshop will involve participants receiving feedback on their near final-form manuscript from an eminent scholar in the Careers Division during a 1 hour Skype session. Scholars serving as mentors for the March 2019 session areDenise Rousseau, Berrin Erdogan, Sherry Sullivan, Kimberly Eddleston, Nikos Bozionelos, Torsten Biemann, and Danna Greenberg.


    Participants will be placed in conversation with a mentor based largely on the match between their paper and the scholars' interests/areas of expertise. Each participant will receive feedback about the positive aspects of their work, as well as be invited into dialogue about how their manuscript might be improved.


    Who is this workshop for? This workshop is open to careers researchers at all levels, but is targeted to those not attending the AoM conference in Boston this year. If you plan to attend AoM in Boston this year, details about how to submit your paper to the Careers in the Rough at the annual meeting will be provided at a later date. The Virtual Careers in the Rough workshop is intended to provide developmental support to careers scholars not able to take advantage of the face-to-face session at AoM due to financial, geographic, personal or other constraints.  




    If you would like to participate in the Virtual Careers in the Rough, please email your manuscript submission to Lauren Keating (keating@em-lyon.com) with the subject "CAR Virtual Careers in the Rough" by the 18th of February, 2019. Manuscript submissions should be no more than 40 pages, including references, tables, and/or figures.


    Please also include in your manuscript submission

    1. A title page, including author affiliations, a brief abstract, and 5-7 keywords
    2. A challenge (up to 250 words) describing a particular dilemma, question, or concern you want to address regarding your manuscript
    3. The following affirmations:

      "I/We confirm that at least one author of this paper will participate in full in the online workshop." "I/We confirm that I/we will not be attending the annual meeting in Boston."

    Applications close: 18 February 2019

    Acceptances sent by: 21 February 2019

    Workshop occurs: Early March; TBA with participants
