    Hello GDO Junior Faculty!

    We are pleased to announce the 2019 GDO Junior Faculty Consortium (JFC) at the Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management in Boston.

    • No additional fee is required to attend this session
    • But, this session is by invitation only and limited to 20 attendees
    • To apply, send your CV, and a brief statement explaining your interest, to Dr. Eddy Ng (edng@Dal.Ca) and Dr. David Baldridge (david.baldridge@orgonstate.edu)
    • The application deadline is June 1, 2019

    Consortium Organizers: Dr. David Baldridge and Dr. Eddy Ng

     

    The 2019 Junior Faculty Consortium aims to address career questions relevant to pre-tenure faculty, with discussions with mid-level and senior faculty panelists. Discussion topics will include preparing for and navigating the tenure process, planning for research and publication success, managing the political environment of academia, and coping with the stresses of the junior faculty role. The core of this consortium is comprised of three interactive

    Panels: (I) Becoming Impactful Scholars, (II) Teaching to Enrich Lives, and (II) Crafting Amazing Lives as Scholars. The program concludes with a networking lunch and mentor match coffee meetings.

    Panel I: Crafting Amazing Scholar Lives

    T. Alex Beauregard, Oscar Holmes IV, Bryant Hudson & Mustafa Ozbilgin

    Presenters will lead discussions on topics such as uncovering strengths; balancing teaching, service and research; pre-tenure opportunities; networking/letter writers/mentors; politics; work-life balance/integration toward rich, satisfying and impactful scholarly lives.

    Panel II: Becoming Impactful Scholars

    Michel Anteby, Mukta Kulkarni, Lynn Shore & Rosalie Tung

    Presenters will lead discussions on strategies for becoming a productive and impactful scholar, including topics such as: different forms of impact; how to position diversity and related research; how to collaborate or find writing/research partners; how to build your brand/increase your visibility within your specialty area; and establishing an impactful research stream.        

    Panel III: Teaching to Enrich Lives

    Lynn Bowes, Bernardo Ferdman, David Kravitz & Miguel Unzuetta

    Presenters will lead discussions on strategies for teaching to enrich lives, including topics such as: engaging students; learning that lasts a lifetime; keeping teaching fun and effective; time management; classroom management; online/in-person/blended modalities; textbooks, resources, and technology.

    Networking Lunch           

    Mentor-Match Coffee

    Participants will also have the opportunity for more personalized connections and feedback through a mentor-match coffee in which junior scholars are paired with a more senior scholar based on their research interests.
