    Dear colleagues,

I am looking for two short measures/scales: one for OCB and another one for employees' deviant behavior. I have got some scales but they are a bit too long. It will be great if you can please recommend me the two measures (possibly about 5 to max 8 items each). Thank you very much!

    Best regards
    Huong

    Hi Huong,

In regards to OCB, have a review of the following article, it may be what you are looking for. The scales are at the end in an appendix.

    Dalal, et al 2009

A WITHIN-PERSON APPROACH TO WORK BEHAVIOR AND PERFORMANCE: CONCURRENT AND LAGGED CITIZENSHIP-COUNTERPRODUCTIVITY ASSOCIATIONS, AND DYNAMIC RELATIONSHIPS WITH AFFECT AND OVERALL JOB PERFORMANCE

Academy of Management Journal 2009, Vol. 52, No. 5, 1051–1066.

    Huong,

you've pointed out one of the difficulties with the existing measures of Organizational Deviance/Counterproductive Workplace Behavior...their length and that they are formative.   Be aware that if you drop items from the current formative scales, you are then measuring something different than the original scales propose to measure.  So you might want to just measure withdrawal or theft or another subset of workplace deviance that fits your hypotheses and has a shorter scale.

Best of luck with your research,
