    Mississippi State University - Management Position Announcement

    BUSINESS POLICY / ENTREPRENEURSHIP

    Description

    The Department of Management and Information Systems in the College of Business at Mississippi State University welcomes applications for two full-time tenure-track assistant professor positions beginning in the fall of 2019. We are seeking individuals to each undergraduate courses in Business Policy and/or Entrepreneurship. The ability to also teach Organizational Behavior and/or Human Resource Management is considered favorably but is not a requirement. Candidates will be expected to do quality research leading to publication in top management journals. Additionally, they should be committed to contribute to our department's Family Business research focus; prior research on family firms is considered favorably but is not a requirement. Research expectations are consistent with those of an AACSB-accredited, tier 1 university.

     
    Meet with Us at AOM

    Candidates will be interviewed at the Academy of Management (AOM) meeting in Chicago, IL. Those who wish to speak to members of the department at the AOM meeting should apply before July 31, 2018. However, applications will be accepted until September 7, 2018.

     

    Our Department

    We are collaborative in nature, working with each other as well as graduate students. We offer an undergraduate major as well as a Ph.D. program in management. We also support the full-time and on-line MBA programs offered by the College of Business, and all of our degree programs are fully accredited by the AACSB. Researchers in our Department are known worldwide for accomplishments in family firm and entrepreneurship research and have published in journals such as AMJ, AMR, SMJ, JAP, ETP, FBR and many others. Our Department is ranked 6th in the world for its Entrepreneurship/Family Business research. The Center of Family Enterprise Research (www.business.msstate.edu/research/cofer/) is housed in our Department, and the Entrepreneurship Center (ecenter.msstate.edu/) is housed in the College of Business, providing faculty with unique research, funding, and outreach opportunities.

     

    Ideal Candidates

    Ideal candidates for the positions must have a PhD in Management or a closely related field.  ABD candidates will be considered-provided they complete their program before the August 2019 start date. Successful candidates will also demonstrate an ability for and commitment to quality teaching in Business Policy and/or Entrepreneurship. An ability and willingness to teach Organizational Behavior and/or Human Resources is considered favorably but is not a requirement.
