    Greetings and happy new year!

     

    Just a reminder, submissions for the 2019 Academy of Management Annual Meeting are due 5pm (ET), Tuesday, January 15, 2019.  Please find the full call for submissions for the Public & Nonprofit Division (PNP) below.  The Academy of Management submission system can be accessed here: http://aom.org/annualmeeting/submission/

     

    In addition, please consider signing up as a reviewer here:  https://review.aom.org/.   Not only is this a great opportunity to read the most current research in public and nonprofit management, but reviewers are also eligible for consideration for our annual AOM-PNP Top Review Awards sponsored by the Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory.

    Academy of Management 2019 Annual Meeting in Boston

     

    Public and Nonprofit (PNP) Division

    The Public and Nonprofit (PNP) Division of the Academy of Management brings together organizational scholars worldwide dedicated towards creating and disseminating knowledge about how to improve the effectiveness of government and nonprofit organizations. We pay special attention to how the distinctive qualities of the public and nonprofit sectors influence the behavior, management and organizational processes of government and nonprofit organizations.

     

    The theme for the 2019 Conference is "Understanding the Inclusive Organization" and focuses on building our knowledge of the creation, operation, and consequences of inclusive organizations.  We encourage members to submit papers and proposals that addresse questions such as: What are the characteristics of inclusive organizations? What are the effects of inclusion on employee, organizational, or societal outcomes? How do institutional or societal contexts impact organizational inclusiveness? Do the meaning and import of inclusion differ across stakeholder groups? Papers that bridge the fields of public policy and public and nonprofit management and focus on the role of government and nonprofit organizations in building inclusiveness in organizations, communities, and society will be given priority.

     

    All topics relevant to the PNP Division's core mission are also welcome. Our members study a variety of important topics including, but not limited to, bureaucratic politics and decision making, cross-sector collaboration and networks, design and delivery of public services, diversity and inclusion in the workplace, government procurement, human capital management, innovation and organizational change, leadership, management of humanitarian and international organizations, motivation and performance of employees, strategic planning and management, social entrepreneurship, and transparency and accountability of public and nonprofit organizations.

     

    The Division encourages and welcomes diverse research methods and approaches including the use of ethnographic studies, laboratory and field experiments, survey research, simulation and systems dynamics modeling, and textual/natural language processing.

     

    Instructions for Submission.  Complete papers and proposals for panels and symposia must be submitted by 5pm (ET), Tuesday, January 15, 2019. Only electronic submissions through the AOM submission system will be accepted.  Submissions that do not follow the AOM guidelines will not be accepted. The submission will open late November at http://aom.org/annualmeeting/submission/.

     

    PNP Division Awards.  Conference submissions are eligible for the following PNP Awards:

    ** Charles J. Levine Award for the Best Conference Paper

    ** Best Doctoral Student Conference Paper Award

    ** Carlo Masini Award for innovative scholarship in public and/or nonprofit management

     

    The PNP Division is also home to the following awards which will be announced at the Academy of Management Meeting in Boston, MA at the PNP Business Meeting:

    ** Best Book Award, from published works of the last three years

    ** Best Article Award for publications in the previous calendar year

    ** Keith G. Provan Award for significant contributions to public management research

    ** Best Doctoral Dissertation Award

    ** Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory Top Reviewer Award
