    CONFLICT MANAGEMENT (CM)

2024 PDW Program: Call for Submissions

PDW Chair: Jamie Lyn Perry, Syracuse University

The Conflict Management (CM) Division invites creative and engaging proposals for interactive Professional Development Workshops (PDWs) for the 2024 Annual Meeting. PDWs will occur Friday, 9 August, through Sunday, 11 August 2024.

This year, the conference theme is "Innovating for the Future," which invites members to examine the interplay of innovation, policy, and purpose as a lens for rethinking conventional ways of leading, managing, and organizing. Given the current climate of political unrest, inequality, economic volatility, health crises, and societal issues that challenge traditional approaches to leadership and management, conflict management scholars are well-suited to addressing this topic, focusing on innovative solutions that can shape and inform policies. We welcome proposals that address this year's theme at the individual, group, organizational, institutional, interorganizational, and societal levels. Examples may include negotiating across entrenched cultural divides, rebuilding trust between former brand rivals, engaging in restorative justice and dispute resolution, and focusing on including practices and policies that may generate a more collaborative and cooperative environment.

We invite PDWs to the CM Division to address the conference theme or other topics that are covered within the CM domain statement. Your proposal should provide a platform for the education, discussion, interaction, and exploration of topics that may benefit doctoral students, junior faculty, senior faculty, or professionals. We encourage PDWs from diverse formats, such as roundtables, panel discussions, research incubators, town hall meetings, or debates. Ultimately, the session should be designed to provide participants with valuable insights and actionable knowledge.

You may submit your proposal using the AOM Submission Center. Please be sure to follow the Academy of Management's guidelines for submissions.

The Submission Center opens on 6 December 2022, and the Submission Deadline is Tuesday, 9 January 2024, at 17:00 ET (UTC-5/GMT-5).

Please contact Jamie Lyn Perry, PDW Chair if you have any questions.
