    Provost's Tenure-Track Fellow to Faculty Program/Assistant Professor

The College of Public Health Division of Health Services Management and Policy at The Ohio State University is searching for a highly exceptional early career researcher in health services management and policy (e.g., health management, health policy, health economics, healthcare systems/health services research, quality of care) for the Provost's Tenure-Track Fellow to Faculty Program, with a particular recognition and interest in scholarly work that contributes to understanding and advancing health equity or addressing related structural barriers to health or healthcare access (e.g., racism as a public health crisis; racial, urban-rural, or sexual and gender minority population health inequities). Potential fellows may be offered the opportunity to accept the Fellow position or an Assistant Professor position. Health equity is a major focus of the Division and College, and current Division faculty research in health equity includes, among other topics, funded studies examining racism as a public health crisis, the differential impact of COVID-19 on mortality among diverse racial and ethnic groups, and COVID-19 vaccine equity for racial and ethnic minority groups.

The goal of the Provost's Tenure-Track Fellow to Faculty Program is to recruit early-career scholars whose accomplishments make them exceptionally competitive for faculty positions. Following the two-year tenure-track fellowship period (if applicable), the individual will then transfer to the rank of assistant professor. During the fellowship period, fellows will receive research funding and participate in career development programs offered by the Ohio State University Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) to support their transition to assistant professor and their long-term career success. In addition, fellows will conduct mentored research within the College of Public Health and the broader Ohio State University community under the guidance of a designated faculty mentor and mentoring team, while also engaging in professional development training.

During the years as a fellow (if applicable), the faculty member has no teaching obligations, but may teach up to one course per year at their own choosing. In addition to research, after the faculty fellow transitions to an assistant professor line, the recruited candidate will be expected to contribute to the division's curriculum at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels and will have standard teaching obligations. As a national leader in public health research, OSU has a responsibility to advance the research on equity to improve the health of our community, state, and nation. Our division is especially interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, and service, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community with a scholarly agenda that addresses health equity.

The successful fellow candidate should demonstrate (1) a compelling research agenda focused on important public health challenges and the potential for publications and external funding, (2) potential for high-quality teaching and mentoring of public health students from diverse backgrounds, and (3) a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of their work.

    Qualifications

Applicants are expected to have a doctoral degree (or equivalent terminal degree) with a focus on health services management and policy, or in a closely related field. Scholarly work that contributes to understanding and advancing health equity or addressing structural barriers to health or healthcare access (e.g., racism as a public health crisis; racial, urban-rural, or sexual and gender minority population health inequities) will be especially valued.
