    TEACHING ASSOCIATE/FULL PROFESSOR OR CLINICAL ASSOCIATE/FULL PROFESSOR TO SERVE AS DIRECTOR OF THE MASTER OF HEALTH ADMINISTRATION (MHA) PROGRAM

    Description: The Department of Kinesiology and Community Health, located in the College of Applied Health Sciences, seeks candidates with a background in health administration for a nine-month, (with potential for annual re-appointment) teaching or clinical position at the rank of Teaching Associate/Full Professor or Clinical Associate/Full Professor. A successful candidate will have a strong record of administrative and teaching/instructional experience. The successful applicant will provide leadership in the following areas: 1) direct the Master of Health Administration (MHA) program,2) guide the program's strategic short and long-term planning, 3) collaborate with community partners on health administration initiatives, 4) supervise an Assistant Director of the MHA program, 5) participate in the instruction of MHA courses, and 6) contribute to the service missions of the university. The position may range from a .5 to 1.0 FTE appointment (20-40 hours per week). The majority of the appointment will relate to administration of the MHA program and may include teaching one or more courses per semester based on the percentage of the appointment.

    Teaching and clinical areas of interest include, but are not limited to, health management, healthcare quality and operations, leadership, health law and ethics, human resources, organizational behavior, finance, health economics, health policy, health technology, health analytics, patient communication, and clinical terminology.

    Qualifications:
    Required: a MS, MHA, or equivalent degree in a related field.
    Preferred: Candidates with 1) a Ph.D., MHA degree, 2) administrative experience in a healthcare setting, 3) experience with accreditation, or 4) experience collaborating with communities on health administration initiatives. Located within the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health, the MHA program supports major campus initiatives to provide innovative leadership in health administration research, education, and service regionally, nationally, and internationally. The Illinois Master of Health Administration program combines the benefits of a small program with the resources and opportunities of a leading research university. This growing program allows students to be at the cutting edge of newly developed classes and curriculum, with instructors who are leaders in the field. The program size allows students to easily connect with the supportive faculty and be surrounded by a tight-knit cohort of peers. The program welcomes students from a wide variety of disciplines and training to join their diverse cohort of MHA students. The two-year, 52 credit hour, residential Health Administration degree is modeled after general business administration curriculums, giving students educational training in finance, leadership/management, quality and strategic planning. The MHA degree includes a 200-hour internship, where students apply their training to assist an organization of their choosing. The MHA program believes in creating a supportive learning environment by establishing student cohorts, allowing students to progress with the same classmates throughout their time in the MHA program.
