My husband is looking for a short, accessible resource about the ideal organizational reporting structure

My husband, an MD, has a new job as the medical director for primary care for a big multi-site FQHC. He is constantly clashing with the large operations division and feels the reporting structure is a mess. Very top-heavy and heavy handed.

His question is, is there an accessible resource he could share and use in meetings when he is pushing for changes to reporting structure? Something that identifies best practices in healthcare organizational structure. So he can rely on science. Sadly he does not have time to give them a whole class or even a long academic article. Anyone aware of reports, toolkits, etc. on this topic?
    Thanks!
    Jen

    Hello Jenn:

Option 1: White and Griffith's 'Green Book' has some structures recommended.
Option 2: The way better option BTW, hire a consultant say from Alabama (No not Lemack) and overpay them to come up with something.
