    Western Michigan University (WMU) invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor, Tenure Track position in Organizational Change Leadership (OCL). (Start Date: August 2023).     Responsibilities

    Successful applicants will be expected to engage in scholarly research and publications related to the field of organizational development and change and human resource development; teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels; advise undergraduate, master's, and PhD students; serve on doctoral student committees; seek external grants; serve on department, college, and university committees; collaborate with the larger department, college, and university faculty groups to promote cross-program integration; and serve as faculty coordinator for the unit and lead the marketing and recruitment efforts for the OCL programs.

     

    Minimum Qualifications

    ·         Earned doctorate in Organizational Development, Human and Organizational Studies, Human Resource Development, Organizational Studies, Organizational Change Leadership, or closely related field

    ·         Experience teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses (face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online) in organizational development and change, and/or human resource development, or closely related fields

    ·         Experience teaching adult learners and diverse populations, including second language learners

    ·         Experience advising undergraduate and graduate students

    ·         Evidence of scholarship in organizational change/HRD/organizational studies as demonstrated by publications in books, academic journals, and presentations at national and/or international conferences

    ·         Experience designing and leading marketing and recruitment efforts (expertise in social media marketing preferred)

    ·         Depending on the development of programs, the candidate may teach in other WMU programs and at other WMU sites, and there may be a need for international travel

    ·         Passion for and demonstrated commitment to improving the educational opportunities and outcomes of ethnically, culturally, economically, and linguistically diverse communities, with inclusion, equity, and social justice a key focus.

     

    Desirable Qualifications

    • Evidence of professional, academic, and/or organizational leadership
    • Record of professional involvement and leadership (e.g., professional associations) in the field of organizational change and development
    • Expertise as chair and/or committee member of doctoral dissertations
    • Experience securing research grant funding
    • Evidence of curriculum development and course design for working professionals
    • Excellent quantitative and qualitative research methods capabilities
    • Experience consulting with organizations, e.g., non-profits, for-profit organizations, military, health care and/or government organizations
    • Ability to establish and maintain partnerships with agencies internal or external to University to facilitate research and service
    • Professional experience in international or global setting (e.g., teaching, consulting, and research)
    • 3-5 years of experience applying adult learning principles in a variety of instructional classroom experiences with graduate students.

    College: The College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) at WMU is a vital, progressive unit committed to high quality teaching, research, and service in the delivery of all programs. Its research informs and service improves practice in educational and other non-educational organizations.     Department: The Department of Educational Leadership, Research, and Technology (ELRT) provides courses, field experiences, and other learning opportunities for students working toward graduate degrees in Educational Leadership; Evaluation, Measurement and Research; Educational and Instructional Technology; and Organizational Change Leadership. The position also supports other Western Michigan University Master of Arts and doctoral programs. Department faculty members are engaged in a wide variety of research and service activities in and out of public education and social science arenas. Within the last year, the Department has been responsible for over $13 million in grant funds to complete research in the field that directly impacts leadership capacity for improved student achievement. The Department is active in many professional associations and supports the needs of practitioners.
