    Call for Abstracts
Open Innovation in Science (OIS) Research Conference 2023
    May 8-10, 2023 | Vienna, Austria; hybrid

    ***apologies for cross-posting***

    Dear colleagues,
This is a reminder that the submission deadline for the Open Innovation in Science (OIS) Research Conference 2023 is approaching.

Please submit your 250-500 word abstract via Easychair by 20 January, 2023. See the conference website and the Call for Abstracts for more details: https://bit.ly/3SaAeXQ

    When: May 8-10, 2023

Where: It will be a hybrid conference at Impact Hub in Vienna, Austria, with online elements to enable virtual contributions and participation.

Since 2019, this annual conference brings together scholars from across disciplines who are interested in investigating and discussing the role and value of openness and collaboration in science. In particular, the conference welcomes submissions, both empirical and conceptual in nature, related to:
    • Track 1:Open and collaborative approaches along the entire scientific research process (e.g. crowd involvement in science or research collaborations between universities and industry), including opportunities, challenges, and contingency factors
    • Track 2: Ecosystems and organizational designs facilitating or constraining open and collaborative research approaches
    • Track 3: Micro-foundations of open and collaborative research approaches
    • Special theme track: Synergies and tensions around impact: How do openness and collaboration influence achieving scientific and societal impact? Do OIS practices promote societal impact at the expense of scientific productivity? Or, do they help us to achieve both and, if so, under what conditions
In addition to inspirational paper sessions, the conference program includes a keynote speech by Matt Marx (Cornell University), an OIS Debate related to the special conference theme with (among others) Michaël Bikard (INSEAD), Aled Edwards (Structural Genomics Consortium), and Michelle Gittelman (Rutgers Business School), and as usual an OIS Experiment where we "walk the talk" by experimenting with a novel way to do our own research. More information on this will be shared together with the conference program in February.

Join the thriving OIS community, share your research, and become part of the next OIS Experiment! We look forward to receiving your submissions.

    Best regards,
Susanne Beck, Christoph Grimpe, Marion Poetz, and Henry Sauermann
