The proposed PDW is meant to serve as a forum during the 2017 GDO program where participants can share personal narratives or "stories" relating to gender and diversity with the aim to convey defining moments in the storyteller's professional journeys when he/she realized that diversity matters. These narratives will not only relate personal experiences of moments of challenge and set- back, of triumph and resilience, and/or of celebration and harmony, but will also serve as a foundation to spark further sharing from the PDW participants. Through this sharing and pursuant discussions, participants are encouraged to reflect on their own experiences and journeys and to share key insights with others. The PDW is proposed to have four parts: (1) introduction, (2) stories by long-term GDO/executiv

e committee members, (3) break-out table discussions of key themes, and (4) the session debriefing. This workshop may be of interest to GDO because it will ultimately serve as a platform for members to share and interact in ways that cultivates shared identity and a meaningful exchange of perspectives.

Search Terms: Storytelling | Diversity | Shared identity

There is no preregistration for this PDW. We hope to see you there for what promises to be an exciting and interesting workshop!
