Postdoctoral researcher 'Intrapreneurship: Enabling Talent for Innovation' (1.0 fte, 4 yrs)
At the Utrecht University School of Economics (U.S.E.) we have a vacancy for a postdoctoral researcher who will be one of the main researchers in the NWO funded research programme “Intrapreneurship: Enabling Talent for Innovation”.
Job Description:
How can human capital be selected and developed in order to stimulate the recognition and pursuit of innovation opportunities in established organisations? Organisations need to become more flexible but also need to invest in talent in order to remain innovative. This necessitates a new mode of cooperation between employers and employees and increases the importance of intrapreneurship, the recognition and pursuit of innovation opportunities by employees.
The postdoc research will focus on the role of national and regional contexts that may enable or constraint intrapreneurship, such as policies, regulations, norms and culture. The research will also assess to what extent intrapreneurship affects the competitiveness of regions and countries. The postdoc research will be executed at Utrecht University, in close collaboration with researchers from other members of the consortium (Erasmus University Rotterdam, Maastricht University and University of Twente).
The postdoc position is part of the research programme 'Intrapreneurship: Enabling Talent for Innovation' funded by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research NWO (Human Capital Program). This research program analyses the prevalence of intrapreneurship and how intrapreneurship is enabled and constrained by management practices, organisational structures and the regional and national context of organisations. The program is executed by four academic partners in collaboration with a large number of private sector organisations, and includes four specific projects on intrapreneurship: talent policy, organisational antecedents and consequences, organisation of corporate entrepreneurship, and regional and national contexts of intrapreneurship.
Profile:
We are looking for an excellent and enthusiastic researcher. Candidates should hold a PhD in economics or a related discipline. Candidates are able to view their research from a broader perspective (both academic and practical application) and to collaborate closely with other researchers in the research programme. Good communication skills and excellent command of spoken and written English are required. The candidate will also perform coordination activities within the research programme.
Offer:
U.S.E. offers a temporary appointment in an international working environment for one year with an extension for another 3 years by satisfied performance. A favourable tax regime may apply for foreign applicants. In addition, Utrecht University offers excellent secondary conditions, including attractive retirement scheme and (partly paid) parental leave.
About the organisation:
Utrecht University has great ambitions for its teaching quality and study success rates. This also applies to its research, which is centred on four themes: Institutions, Dynamics of Youth, Life Sciences, and Sustainability. Utrecht University plays a prominent role in our society and contributes to finding the answers to topical and future societal issues.
The researcher will be part of the Utrecht University School of Economics (U.S.E.). U.S.E. promotes high quality economics research and teaching with special attention to a multidisciplinary economics approach. This approach implies a strong awareness of the complex socio-economic reality: human behaviour is not always rational and markets are not always in equilibrium.
