OMT's PDW Program
OMT’s PDW Chair, Eva Boxenbaum, is working intensively with our PDW organizers and the Academy’s Leadership to put on a dynamic and exciting PDW program for the OMT Division during the 2020 virtual conference. Three quarters of our PDW organizers have expressed a preference for hosting their PDW synchronously, which we are hoping to accommodate in the program. We see a great potential for collective learning and development in honoring the high engagement and community spirit of our committed PDW organizers.
In the meantime, OMT announces the following division-sponsored PDWs to appear on our synchronous program:
OMT Junior Faculty Consortium
This is OMT’s consortium for early career faculty (primarily tenure-track). Through panels and facilitated conversations with senior faculty mentors and peers, participants will have a chance to discuss opportunities and challenges related to developing research for publication, navigating the tenure process, and having impact as a researcher and teacher. The PDW will also include virtual breakout rooms where participants will get individualized feedback on their own research. This session will be held synchronously on Friday August 7 in Block B. Pre-registration is required. More information is available
here.
OMT Doctoral Student Consortium
This event is for doctoral students who are reaching the end of their doctoral education and wish to discuss opportunities and challenges related to the transition from student to faculty member and the academic job market. Participants will discuss research, teaching, and careers in virtual breakout rooms with like-minded colleagues and established scholars in the field. The session will be held synchronously on Friday August 7 in Block B. Pre-registration is required. More information is available
here.
OMT Dissertation Proposal Workshop
This is our PDW for doctoral students who are mid-way through their doctoral education and wish to discuss the analytical contours of their dissertation with others at the same developmental stage and an established scholar in the field. The session will be held synchronously, in virtual breakout rooms, on Saturday August 8 in Block B. Pre-registration is required. More information is available
here.
OMT Global: Doing Organizational Research Around the World
The “OMT Global: Doing Organizational Research Around the World” PDW, previously offered in the OMT off-program series, is now officially part of our divisional events. It aims at reaching out to scholarly communities in areas of the world that are underrepresented in OMT, offering the opportunity to discuss and get feedback on organizational research based in different geographical contexts across the world. The session will be held synchronously on Saturday August 8 in time Block A. Pre-registration is required. More information is available
here.
OMT New and Returning Member Networking and Research Forum
This event is for OMT members who recently joined the OMT Division or have recently returned to it. This session will be interactive and run synchronously in Block B on a different day of the conference than the previous four events. The forum is designed so that participants can meet leading scholars in the OMT division, meet other new members of the division, and discuss research with scholars who share similar interests. Pre-registration is required. More information is available
here.
