Call for Applications
HEC Montréal invites promising students with an outstanding academic record to apply for admission to the PhD Program in Management, Strategy and Organizations. The application deadline is January 15, 2018 for the September 2018 cohort.
RESEARCH ENVIRONMENT. The quality of the research conducted by members of our department is reflected in the number of chairs and influential scholars publishing in top tier journals in their fields and contributing to different sectors of society. The department offers a vibrant research environment, where PhD students can develop their skills, collaborating with multiple researchers, faculty and students, not only from HEC Montreal, but also from other Montreal universities.
Members of the department also cover a wide range of research interests: extreme contexts and developing countries; family business; organizational ethics; cultural management; social innovation and diversity; knowledge and innovation management; leadership and change; public sector innovation; social responsibility and sustainable development; sociology of organizations; strategy, institutions and governance. STRUCTURE OF THE PROGRAM. HEC Montréal's PhD program is offered in partnership with three other Montréal universities (Concordia University, McGill University, and Université du Québec à Montréal). This means that students benefit from a rich offering of courses and a large body of expertise. PhD students in our department are required to take nine courses in the first two years of study (see the structure). Available courses include but are not limited to:

· Qualitative Research Methods

FINANCIAL SUPPORT. In terms of financial support, students in Management, Strategy and Organization are guaranteed annual funding of $ 20 000 and exemption for tuition fees for four years, once they have started courses in their major. This includes funding from the School's PhD program and is subject to the funding conditions of the program. Students who obtain a scholarship from a research agency during the term of our program will be allowed to keep 50% of HEC's funding package.
Candidates who have secured their own scholarship are also encouraged to apply to our program and can still benefit from a portion of HEC funding.

Candidates must hold a Master's degree, with a strong academic record from a recognized university. Typical applicants hold an undergraduate and/or a master degree in related disciplines (business administration, sociology, political science, anthropology, communications, etc.).
The Admission Committee will carefully review every application, which must include the following documents:
- Grade transcripts from all universities attended
- GMAT, TAGE-MAGE, or GRE official test score
- Advanced proficiency in French and English (e.g. TOEFL, TFI)
- Three letters of recommendation, preferably from professors
- Statement of purpose for application to the PhD program in Management, Strategy and Organizations

Admissions are decided on a competitive basis. The number of yearly admissions is limited to keep the program small and encourage personal interactions between students and faculty.
