    Apologies for cross-posting

    Dear Colleagues,

We have the pleasure to invite you to the upcoming PDW at the AOM in Vancouver, "Challenges and opportunities of the global classroom. The X-Culture project in Ibero American countries"

The X-Culture project (http://www.x-culture.org/index.html) is an inter-institutional collaborative initiative developed to enhance the international experience of students in international business, strategy or marketing courses. The project contributes to the cross-cultural learning of students from all around the world by offering a project-based student-centered teaching approach. Each semester students from over 40 countries participate on the development of business plans for real challenges of multinational companies working in Global Virtual Teams (usually 7 people from 7 different countries).

Ibero America (Latin American countries and European countries with Latin origin) is a region with one of the relative lowest levels of participation. This low participation not only reduces the diversity of the X-Culture project but also shows that universities and instructors in the region are not taking advantage of the potential benefits that projects such as the X-culture may offer.  The PDW aims to share and discuss the advantages, challenges, experiences and best practices of implementing teaching methodologies based on cross-cultural collaboration. A second goal of the PDW is to introduce and promote participation in the X-Culture project to the Ibero American academic audience. Several interactive presentations will spark discussion and sharing of experiences among scholars of the region that already participate in the X-Culture and also those who are interested in joining the project.

The PDW will take place at Vancouver Convention Centre, Room 116 on Saturday, Aug 8 from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM.   If you have any question please contact the coordinators: Erica Salvaj, School of Business and Economics, Universidad del Desarrollo, Santiago, Chile, esalvaj@udd.cl or Alfredo Jimenez, Universidad de Burgos, Spain, ajimenez@ubu.es
