    Dear IBERO Colleagues,

As many of you know, my term as President of the Iberoamerican Academy of Management (IAM) ended on August 6th at the annual meetings of the Academy of Management. It has been a great honor and privilege to serve in this capacity during the past three years. Thank you for all your support during these exciting times for our association and Iberoamerica in general!

During the past three years, we focused our efforts on three strategic goals: growth, visibility, and expansion. We undertook many initiatives and accomplished important achievements in support of these broad goals. For example, we created new bylaws (institutionalizing many ad hoc practices), updated our website including capabilities such as membership sign-up and payment, stabilized our membership base due to an improvement in the membership fee structure (i.e., 2-year membership), planned the first IAM conference ever to take place in North America in December 2017 (where many of the current members reside), implemented successful AOM and IAM conference new initiatives (e.g., methods workshops at IAM conference, reception/social hour at AOM conference), expanded the Executive Committee to improve geographic representation and diversity, launched new initiatives for our journal Management Research (e.g., calls for special issues, invited articles with commentaries, expansion of the editorial board), created the IBERO listserv which provides real-time communication among 1,200+ members from 20+ countries, and reached out to other associations such as International Leadership Association, International Association for Chinese Management Research, and CARMA.

The aforementioned accomplishments would not have been possible without the ongoing support, effort, and dedication of IAM's outstanding Executive Committee during my term as President, whom I thank heartily: Jose Ernesto Amorós Espinosa (VP), Universidad del Desarrollo (Chile); Pascual Berrone (VP), IESE (Spain); Rita Campos e Cunha (VP), Universidade Nova de Lisboa (Portugal); Monica Franco (VP), Cranfield (UK); Carolina Gómez (VP & Webmaster), Florida International U. (USA); Santiago Ibarreche (VP and Treasurer), University of Texas at El Paso (USA); Martin Larraza Kintana (VP), Universidad Pública de Navarra (Spain); Luiz F. Mesquita (VP), Arizona State U. (USA); Ronaldo Parente (VP), Florida International University (USA); Miguel (Mickey) Quiñones (Secretary), Southern Methodist University; Joan E. Ricart (VP), IESE (Spain); Jose Luis Rivas Pérez (VP), ITAM (Mexico); Maria Jose Tonelli (VP), Fundação Getulio Vargas, Brazil; and Len J. Treviño, (VP) Loyola University New Orleans (USA). I am also thankful to past presidents Luis Gomez-Mejia (Arizona State, USA) and Julio de Castro (IE, Spain) for their ongoing advice.

Those of you who attended the IAM business meeting in Anaheim know that Professor Carolina Gomez (Florida International U.) has been elected President for the next three years. Professor Gomez's research focuses mainly on cross-cultural organizational behavior, multinational corporation (MNC) management, and country differences that affect MNCs. She has been involved with IAM since its foundation, having served on the Scientific Committee for the first IAM Conference.  She has a long and illustrious involvement with IAM, having served as VP and webmaster, and also as Chair for the PDW at the AOM meetings.  Please join me in welcoming Professor Gomez and feel free to contact her directly if you have any suggestions at gomezc@fiu.edu

THANK YOU for the wonderful past three years-it has been a great ride! I look forward to my continued involvement with the Iberoamerican Academy of Management in my capacity of IBERO listserv coordinator.

    All the best,

    --Herman.
