This PDW examines the emerging stream of research on the internationalization of Latin American firms. The workshop is motivated by the lack of international business work on the antecedents and consequences of the internationalization of emerging market firms. The rise of emerging markets and developing economies, as well as the "rise of state capitalism" and "national champions," demands an expansion of this research agenda to include the increasingly influential emerging markets multinationals, particularly those from Latin America-frequently called "Multilatinas." Understanding how these firms operate and compete internationally is becoming more important as they enter global markets. The workshop will be interactive, combining discussions from leading scholars who will share their findings and thoughts, with participation of the audience in generating ideas and research questions for a future research agenda in this area.
