    Dear esteemed scholars,

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Rowena Ortiz-Walters and I am on the executive commitee of the GDO division of the Academy of Management. On behalf the executive committee, I am spearheading a web-based mini workshop or panel that discusses gender and diversity issues from a non-US perspective.

This is to be a web-based mini workshop or panel to help the GDO membership gain an appreciation and understanding of gender and diversity issues from a more global perspective. For this webinar, the second of its kind for GDO, we are especially interested in showcasing a Latin American viewpoint. We would like to highlight either novel angles to issues US-based diversity scholars would be familiar with (e.g., women at work) or different (from US) cultural values around diversity, or a type of diversity issue that is relevant in that context but not in the US. Also, if there the dominant academic discourse around diversity is different. The idea is to help the membership see the need for a broader conceptualization of key diversity issues and challenges and research approaches.

For this project, we were thinking about inviting a lead rearcher to present a review of the research in the field and then have a panel discussion with additional lead researchers on specific research questions for Latin America.

The webinar (or podcast/vodcast) does not need to be long at all. We envision the length to be about 1 to 2 hours long. The key goal is to share insights unique to the region that help the broader GDO membership understand just how diverse gender & diversity issues are when you adopt a global perspective. The target launch date for the webinar would be somewhere in the November to December time frame.

If you are interested in participating please contact me to let me know. If you are not interested, we also welcome the opportunity to be connected to other scholars you think would be. On behalf of the GDO committee, I thank you for your consideration of this important initiative.
