What do we want? CM members to complete the Division membership survey!
When do we want it? Now! (or at least before the deadline tomorrow, 11:59pm ET Mon. Nov. 17).
Why do we want it? Well, AOM makes us do this, but more importantly, WE want to do this! Your CM Division leadership is working hard to try to create more connections with you, to understand how we can best support the Division, to continue to improve our Division's long history of coolness and usefulness for its members, and to take over the world!
Ok, I didn't mean that last one. But I did mean everything else, and we really need you to complete the survey. You can leave any question blank if you want, so it can take truly only a couple mins if that's all the time you have to spare (but really, you've spent a minute already reading this message--what's a couple more minutes to complete a survey I'm begging you to do?).
We are listening, but we need every CM member to speak up. Currently we're at a 13% response rate--our lowest ever in the history of the CM Division (well, I don't actually know that, but it sounds more dramatic when I say it like that, and it is actually the lowest in recorded Division history, which I find embarrassing as your Division Chair given how often I say that we have the GOAT Division).
As a final temptation, here are a couple of negotiation-related puns to nudge you to click on your member survey link (you should have gotten a final email reminder today):
Me: Here's my final number (slides note across table). My partner: You know that won't work for me. Here's what I'll agree to (slides new number across table). Me: Why are you being like this? This is unreasonable! (slides new number) Partner: I can't deal with this! No deal! (both storm away) [description of thermostat negotiations in our house]
Union-management negotiations were at an impasse. The union was denying that workers were abusing the employer's sick leave policy. An employee who had called in sick was featured in the local news for having won a local golf tournament with a great score. The employer pointed this out as an example of the flagrant violations. The union rep paused and said, "Wow, but just think what the score would have been if they hadn't been sick!"
Please--if you haven't already, take a few minutes to fill in your member survey! Thank you!
