REMINDER (& UPDATE): TIM Virtual Doctoral Student Consortium – Call for applications

When: Wednesday August 4 2021; 8am-1pm Eastern Time

    Application Deadline: June 20, 2021

Who should apply: The TIM doctoral consortium is aimed at Ph.D. candidates interested in technology, innovation, and related topics and who are preparing for the tenure-track job market. Preference is given to doctoral candidates at later stages of their Ph.D.

Description: The consortium is organized around three main events:

    (1) Job Market Bootcamp: How should I approach the job market considering the current health and economic situation? How should I prepare for virtual campus visits including job-talks and 1:1 interview? We will also have a panel to share tips about finishing your dissertation and finding a job from home.

    (2) Horizon 2026: Congrats, you got the dream job! Now you want to get tenure. We will spend another roundtable on a five-year visioning exercise (2021 + 5 = 2026) where you will forecast your future research statement and then receive detailed feedback from a faculty mentor on how to get there from here.

    (3) Research Mentorship: Participants will have the opportunity to pitch their research to a faculty mentor and receive research feedback.

We will have informal networking sessions taking advantage of Zoom's wonderful breakout rooms, and participants will be invited to the (in person!) reception that the TIM Doctoral Student Consortium will organize during AOM 2022 in Seattle.

Finally, we do not want financial constraints to preclude your participation in the consortium, so please let us know if you require assistance in paying the AOM registration fee.

Faculty mentors: The program will include a keynote speech by Melissa Schilling (New York University), and mentors come from a range of stages in career and research institutions. Confirmed to date are the following: Daniel Armanios (Carnegie Mellon University), Sen Chai (ESSEC), Alicia DeSantola (University of Washington), Jax Kirtley (Wharton), Murat Tarakci (Erasmus University), Casidhe Troyer (London Business School), Anu Wadhwa (Imperial College), Yanbo Wang (National University of Singapore), and Kum Zhang (PHBS/HKUST).
