The fifth edition of Symplatform is coming:the place where academic knowledge meets the practice world to foster a critical discussion on what platforms are, how they work and what they can become for people, organizations and our society.
A project developed in collaboration by Politecnico di Milano School of Management, Trinity College Dublin and Audencia Business School.
Symplatform 2024 will be held:
- online (on Sept. 3, 4 and 5, between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. CEST): paper presentations
- in Lecco campus (all day on September 6, 2024): keynotes, special sessions and paper presentations.
The agenda will be available in late May. Registration will open at the same time.

Call for abstracts
Symplatform welcomes academic research dealing with platforms from various perspectives and disciplines. Possible topics are related to (but not limited to):
· Platform-based business models and strategies
· Platform-related technologies (Web 3, Metaverse, AI)
· Implications of platforms (gig economy, labor market)
· Platforms and data (privacy issues, ...)
· Platforms and sustainability (circular economy, ...)
· Platform in B2B contexts
· Special Track on AI and Platform linked with a Call For Papers on Journal of Engineering and Technology Management
Accepted papers will be announced by May 15, 2024.
Symplatform is a hybrid conference. Presentations can take place:
- virtually (September 3-5, 2024)
- in-person (September 6, 2024)
Call for Special Sessions
In collaboration with the Platform Thinking HUB Observatory, the 2024 edition welcomes interactive sessions aimed at facilitating communication between scholars and practitioners in the field of platforms.
Special Sessions may cover (but not limited to):
· Roundtables
· Collaborative workshops
· Model and tool presentations
· Hackathons
· Case studies
Accepted special sessions will be announced by May 15, 2024.
Special sessions will be held in-person on September 6, 2024.
