Message from Division Chair

Dear Conflict Management community,

Welcome to the CM Division website, where you can explore the many facets of negotiation, conflict management, and other topics addressed in our Division, including persuasion, and influence, interpersonal to international conflict, trust and team negotiation, restorative justice, and many more, across individual, group, organizational, institutional, interorganizational, and societal levels. Whatever outcomes you care about, the CM Division covers the processes and inputs that help you get there. As such, we are extremely interdisciplinary, multi-level, and, most importantly of all, curious. We are small but mighty and we take our community and culture seriously—we support our members fiercely.

As a division, we have partnered with programs such as the Harvard’s Program on Negotiation, Kellogg’s Dispute Resolution Research Center, and the International Association for Conflict Management to offer opportunities and support for our members, including awards and a number of initiatives designed especially for doctoral students. Further, the CM division offers learning and connection opportunities throughout the year, including a webinar series that we continue to expand year-over-year. This is a wonderful division to be involved in, and it’s an excellent one for connecting with other like-minded scholars.

Please take a few minutes to explore our website. We have opportunities to become more involved in the Division in a variety of ways, from volunteer and formal leadership roles to the Scholars in Residence program for more seasoned folks. We would love to have you take part in the many possibilities the CM Division offers to engage with our community. We are strong because of members like you (and if you’re not a member yet—we hope you consider joining). Anytime you have relevant news to share to the CM division membership, please let us know.

The current Executive Board team is hard at work throughout the year to create programming and resources that are useful for you, including but not limited to the AOM Annual Conference. Be sure to check out our messages on the CM listserv to hear about upcoming events and opportunities offered through the CM Division.

We look forward to interacting and connecting with you throughout the year, and I hope to see and hear from you often! (and bonus points if you share a negotiation-themed pun whenever you talk with us—I am always happy to share ones with you!)
